“Grafistas” Exhibition

The Spanish Ministry of Culture presented in 2012 the exhibition Grafistas. Spanish Graphic Design 1939-75, curated by Emilio Gil, at the Arts and Crafts Museum (Madrid). The display included the most relevant pieces designed by the Pioneers of graphic design in Spain. These works explain how graphic design trascended the profesional circles in order to modestly contribute to the Spanish contemporary transformation.

Grafistas displays educational and attractive graphic material as well as explains the development of the profession of graphic designer. Even more importantly, the exhibition brings to light an unknown period in the history of Spanish graphic design and lays bare the artistic value behind handcrafted works.
